My brother recently started his own business. He is an electrician and subcontractor, as well as working for another business full time. While working full time at his job, he is working hard on building his business before he is able to quit his job and work for himself. He hired someone to build his website for his business, but doesn’t seem like many people have found it or looked at it and it is not helping him very much. He was told to add his website to a web directory, so more people will see it and use it. He found a website that adds companies and individuals with websites to a web directory. When people look at a website directory, they find links to different websites and it helps people go directly to a link directing them to a website quickly. He is now going to have his website added to a website directly, in hopes that it will boost his business and help people find him and hire him for their electrical jobs.

I sell a variety of products online. The majority of items I sell consist of CDs and DVDs. Listing CDs and DVDs on eBay can take hours at a time if you have a large amount of titles to list. A while back someone recommended that I use a barcode scanner to list movies and music online. I didn’t know, but if you use a barcode scanner, you simply have to scan the barcode of the item you’re going to list and eBay pulls the product details from an online database and you have nothing to type in for item details. I’m currently using the Symbol LS2208 barcode scanner and I love it. I can list hundreds of items in a very short period of time compared to how long it took me to type all of the item details by hand. I wish I would have started using a barcode scanner years ago.

I do most of my shopping online, and I recently started paying the majority of my bills online as well. A while back I started looking for car insurance quotes online. My current insurance company will not allow me to pay my bill online for some reason, so I was looking for one who would. I came across an insurance website that lists most car insurance providers and found several companies that gave me a free insurance quote right online without having to wait. I’m not sure which one I am going to go with yet, but whoever I choose must accept online payments.

I work in an office as a secretary. One of my duties is to be sure all of the office supplies are always in stock. I check the inventory usually once per month. I try to order all the paper and writing supplies from one company and other items from individual companies. We use a large amount of mailing supplies such as envelopes, postage tape, ink, and other. We have our own meter which makes mailing much easier and faster. It is very important though that we always keep everything in stock, so sometimes I have to order more than only once per month.

A friend of mine has been running a website for a couple of years now. At first he wasn’t really making any money from it, but recently he was able to buy a second home. I’m still not sure about what he does exactly, but whatever it is, it’s paying for sure. I wish I had the time to start an online business.

I went a little crasy last night and purchased about 20 different DVDs on eBay. It had been quite a while since I got anything from eBay and last night I made up for that. I got Shooter (2007, Mark Wahlberg), A History of Violence (2005, Viggo Mortensen), Smokin’ Aces (2006, Ryan Reynolds, Ray Liotta, Jeremy Piven, Ben Affleck) and a bunch of others. I really hate spending $15 per DVD in stores so I usually wait til they’ve been out for at least a few months so that I can find them on eBay for a fraction of the price online.
